CONCEPT ART
This project titled “After the Dark” was a subversive education tool designed to inform teenage gamers of a future devastated by years of reckless environmental destruction. As part of a 5-people team effort to realize a full immersive virtual environment, I was responsible for generating concept art designs for interiors, landscapes, characters, and story sequences. Production was led by Greg Young, Rory Cartwright was behind the gaming logic and level design, with modelling and texturing by Dominic English and Debbie Chiu.
ILLUSTRATIONS
Illustration and music are two of my passions since I was a kid in Hong Kong. My interests oscillate between western animated feature films to the classic aesthetics of Chinese ink paintings and graphic design. I am largely self taught and currently seeking work experience in these fields. [Only a select few are presented here. More will be added progressively]
WEB DEVELOPMENT
As part of my dual degree program at QUT, I have some experience in building dynamic, database-driven websites and working with content management systems such as Drupal.
INTERACTIVE
Collaborating with Greg Young, “Doppelganger” was conceived as an interpretative, interactive video concept in response to the growing significance of identity theft on the online space. The work questions the inherent value and need for ‘identities’ in non-physical online transactions, and the threats posed by malevolent viral attacks, hacking and Trojans.
ABOUT ME
I am currently studying in my penultimate year of Bachelor of Creative Industries (Comm Design) // Information Technology (Web Services Development) at Queensland University of Technology. Born in Hong Kong and raised in sunny Brisbane, I regularly travel between the two countries when I am not locked in labs pushing pixels and studying. My first childhood dream was to be an archaeologist in Egypt and I (fortunately) switched very quickly to the world of moving pictures and illustrations. I am largely self taught in drawing and art, and I am always on the look out for work experience and opportunities for collaborating. My full curriculum vitae can be downloaded here. I am available for work and freelance. Please contact me at hello.rachelwong@gmail.com Thank you for visiting my online portfolio. Keep me on tab as more fresh work will be added very soon!.
